TAIWAN VISA REQUIREMENTS
Citizens of the US and France
Citizens of the US and France are currently exempt from visa requirement for up to 90-days of stay.
Important: You will need a valid passport to travel to Taiwan. The passport needs to be valid for at least six(6) months beyond the return date.
Citizens of other countries

DRIVER’S LICENSE
If you are planning on renting a car throughout your trip, make sure to obtain an International Driving Permit (IDP): to apply for one, visit the official IDP website.
Car rental companies require all non-Taiwanese drivers except Chinese nationals to present an IDP along with their valid nationals license, an ID and a credit card.
CURRENCY
Overview
Taiwan uses NTD (New Taiwan Dollars).
Per customs regulations, you should not carry a sum of money that is equal to or greater than $10,000 (or its equivalent value in other currencies) when traveling to Taiwan.
You can exchange currency before your trip or at the Taiwan Bank in the airport. There is a Taiwan Bank Branch before you exit through the immigration customs at the Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). Visit here for the latest Taiwan Bank location information in TPE airport.
Cash vs. Credit Card
The street vendors and night markets are usually cash only.
Most storefronts (like 7-11, Family Mart convenience store) and hotels accept credit cards. Be sure to check with your bank for any international fees that may apply and to let them know of your travel plans to prevent your account from being frozen for suspicious activity.

Sim card
Cellular Services Stores are conveniently located inside the terminal of the airport. There should be one located right next to the Taiwan Bank right before you enter the area for custom immigration. Multiple SIM card options are available to purchase based on your needs. One of the most common and popular plans includes unlimited internet access. For most electronics you can use an all-in-one adapter with swappable prongs for international travel:

For appliances like hair dryers, make sure they are dual voltage: check the label and look for INPUT AC 120V – 240V (or a variation of that) or a switch that can be set to 110V or 230V. If it is there, then it should be safe to be used in Taiwan.
If your appliance is only 230V or 240V, you might need a voltage converter (otherwise it might not heat up enough for example).
