Public Transportation Overview
Taoyuan Airport MRT ➜ Taiwan High Speed Rail ➜ Kaohsiung MRT OR Taiwan Railway ➜ Wedding Venue
Taoyuan Airport (TPE) to Taiwan High Speed Rail (HSR) Station
The MRT (Mass Rapid Transit, the subway in Taiwan) connecting the airport to the high speed rail is located within the airport. Look for the sign with directions to “MRT / High Speed Rail”.
You will need to follow the sign and head downstairs to the basement floors for Taoyuan Metro or Airport MRT.
Departure MRT stations will be either Airport Terminal 1 (A12) or Airport Terminal 2 (A13). You will be able to take the Airport Commuter train to the Taoyuan HSR Station (A18).
MRT subway trains are available every 15-minutes from 6am to 12-midnight daily. Subway travel time should be about 27 minutes.
Single ride ticket is 40NTD/$1.27USD/€1.17 from the airport to HSR. Children under 6 years of age or shorter than 115cm/3ft 9in are free. You can get a ticket from the airport’s automatic machines or the information booth. Both cash and credit card payments are accepted. Alternatively, wireless credit card payment (like Apple Pay) and Metro cards (eligible for all MRT across Taiwan, train, and national park payments). Metro cards can be purchased at the station or 7-11 convenience store. You can load money into the card as credit to use throughout the trip.

Taiwan HSR Train from Taoyuan to Zuoying
Taiwan HSR offers direct trains from Taoyuan Station to Zuoying Station. The trip costs 1,330NTD/$43 USD/€39. Trip duration is either 1h35m or 1h37m. The HSR train departs approximately every 20-minutes. You can purchase your ticket online using the website or the app.
There is one train with 1h55m travel time. While you’ll still eventually get down to the south, it has many extra stops causing the extra 20-minutes travel time, so double check before you get onto the train to save some travel time.

Taiwan HSR Stations Map
HSR Zuoying Station to Qiaotou Station
Zuoying is a district in Kaohsiung City like Qiaotou. You’ll be able to get to Qiaotou from Zuoying by taking the Taiwan Railway or the Kaohsiung MRT Subway.
Taiwan Railway
Taiwan Railway has local trains departing every 30-minutes. Ride time is 10-minutes with 2 stops. Ticket options are either single-ride ticket or metro card.
Kaohsiung MRT Subway
MRT would have trains departing every 6-minutes. You will need to take the subway heading towards Gangshan South direction. Ride time is about 18-minutes with 8 stops.
Similar to the Airport MRT, ticket options include: single-ride ticket, metro card, and wireless card payment.
FROM KAOHSIUNG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KHH)
Kaohsiung International Airport (KHH) is the closest airport to the wedding venue, but the majority of the flights in and out of KHH are for Asia destinations.
If you are traveling to Taiwan through the KHH airport, you will be able to get to the wedding venue in Qiaotou directly using the red line of the Kaohsiung MRT Subway. Departing station is Kaohsiung International Airport (R4) and arrival station is Qiaotou Station (R23). MRT subway departs about every 6-minutes.

The wedding venue is walkable from stop R23 of the KMRT, so any hotel or lodging close by a MRT station on the red line would be convenient. KMRT stops with hotel options that are close by the ocean would be O1 and O2 along the orange line.

WEDDING VENUE
Our wedding party will be hosted in Qiaotou Sugar Refinery, which is approximately a 10min walk (800m) from Qiaotou MRT Subway & Train Station.
If you’re taking the KMRT, the closest stop is R23 Qiaotou Station.
If you’re taking the Taiwan Railway, you will need to arrive at Qiaotou Train Station through the local commuter train.
